What the Hummingbird Thought

Almah LaVon (theyy/themme) is a writer, mixed media maker, and a hummingbird in human masquerade from Louisville, KY. My handcut mixed media collage, "What the Hummingbird Thought," captures the flower-forward mindscape of my familiar. The hummingbird must always be thinking about the secret lives of flowers and other sweet things in order to survive. Nectar is necessity. So this jewel of a bird is an avatar of the life-saving nature of pleasure, pleasure, and more pleasure. In addition, a friend recently said that my gender is hummingbird and I felt so seen.
